Methodology

Source

Camera locations come from OpenStreetMap (OSM). We include every feature tagged man_made=surveillance with surveillance:type=ALPR within the United States. Some devices carry a manufacturer tag identifying them as Flock Safety units; untagged devices are shown in gray on the map.

Sync

An automated process pulls the latest OSM data nightly, rebuilds the national dataset and every state page, and republishes. What you see is never older than 24 hours (plus brief CDN caching).

Limitations

OSM reflects volunteer mapping effort. Dense metros are well covered; rural areas and some states are under-mapped. Mobile ALPR units and cameras on private property are not represented. "Verified" on this site means: present in the current OSM sync — not that our team physically confirmed each device.
